Taste Hunter plans beer and wine hunts and keeps a journal of what you taste. We built it to need as little of your data as possible. This page explains what the app uses, where it goes, and how to reach us.

Who we are

Taste Hunter is run by Ronan Kenupp, Belgium. For anything about your data, write to [email protected].

No account, no ads, no tracking

You can use Taste Hunter without creating an account. The app shows no ads, contains no advertising or analytics trackers, and we never sell or share your data for marketing.

What stays on your phone

• Your hunts, favourites, tastings, ratings and notes are saved on your phone only.
• Photos you take of labels or drinks stay on your phone. They are not uploaded.
• Deleting the app deletes all of this.

What the app sends, and to whom

• Your location, only if you allow it, is used to find breweries and wineries near you and to plan routes. To calculate a route, the start and stop points are sent to the OpenStreetMap routing service (routing.openstreetmap.de). When you search for a town, the text you type is sent to the Photon search service by Komoot.
• Drinks you look up: the name or barcode you type or scan is sent to Open Food Facts and Wikidata to find the drink and its producer's logo.
• Venue ratings: when you open a brewery or winery, its name and position (not yours) are sent to Google Places to show its Google rating.
• Maps: on iPhone the map is drawn by Apple Maps, on Android by Google Maps, under their own privacy terms.
• App updates: the app checks Expo's update service for new versions. This sends technical information such as the app version and device platform, not personal data.

These services receive only what is needed for each request. We do not receive or store a copy.

Brewers and winemakers

Venue listings come from public sources such as OpenStreetMap. If you run a brewery or winery, you can ask us to correct or remove your listing at [email protected].

Age

Taste Hunter is about alcoholic drinks and is meant for adults of legal drinking age (18+, 21+ in the USA).

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to its use. Since the app keeps your data on your phone, there is usually nothing on our side, but write to us and we will check. You can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).

Changes

When the app starts offering accounts or bookings, this page will be updated before those features go live.
